Mac Display Off

Step 1: Unzip the File

After downloading, locate the MacDisplayOff.zip file and double-click to unzip it. If you're unable to open it, proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: Launch via Privacy & Security

MacOS may block the app from launching. If that happens, follow these steps:

1. Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security.
   Alternative: Press ⌘+Space and type Privacy & Security in Spotlight Search.
2. Scroll down to the bottom and click Open Anyway to launch the app.
3. Drag and drop Mac Display Off into your Applications folder.

Note: These steps only need to be done once.

Why This Is Necessary

Mac Display Off is a niche app designed to help people overcome specific annoyances with how Macs handle their built-in display.

To avoid macOS from blocking an app, it must be notarized through Apple's Developer Program, which requires a USD99/year fee.

This cost isn't feasible for small and independent developers such as ourselves, without passing them on to you. We want to keep the Mac Display Off app affordable.
